Jack the Ripper The Suspects The Whitechapel Society 9780752462868 Books
This book compiled by Ripperologists from the Whitechapel Society is excellent.Whether you are an historian or just a true crime reader interested in Jack the Ripper or in serial killers, I highly recommend this book.
In the book ten Ripperologists each analyse a Ripper suspect. Therefore they ‘dissect’ Joseph Barnett, William Henry Bury, George Chapman, Montague John Druitt, Sr William Gull, Aaron Kosminski, James Maybrick, Walter Sickert, ‘Dr’ Francis Tumblety and also Prince Albert Victor who was Queen Victoria’s grandson and at the time second in line to the throne.
If you want just a study of the above subjects, then this undoubtedly is the book for you. You will however find so much more of interest in the book.

Jack the Ripper The Suspects The Whitechapel Society 9780752462868 Books Reviews
England's Whitechapel Society, established in 1995, is dedicated to investigating the Whitechapel murders committed by Jack the Ripper and the social history of London's East End in Victorian and Edwardian times. JACK THE RIPPER, THE SUSPECTS is a wonderfully entertaining and well-researched summary by Whitechapel Society members of the top Jack the Ripper suspects.
In JACK THE RIPPER, THE SUSPECTS, various Whitechapel Society members each take one suspect and present an informed, well-researched synopsis of that suspect's life and weighs the arguments for and against that person being the Ripper. Readers familiar with the Whitechapel murders will find 'old friends' in this 2011 History Press release such as Montague Druitt, Sir William Gull, Aaron Kosminski, James Maybrick, Prince Albert Victor, etc. Having evaluated all 'the usual suspects,' the book concludes with a chapter on 'Suspects The Best (or Worst) of the Rest.'
Vintage photographs and illustrations compliment the engaging text.
The back cover of the book claims JACK THE RIPPER, THE SUSPECTS is "the ultimate guide to the most famous criminal investigation in British history." Not being a Ripper expert, I can't pass judgement on that claim. However, I found the book to be an insightful, well-reasoned and utterly compelling summary of those long-ago crimes. Recommended.
I think I might, might now, inquire on joining The Whitechapel Society. In fact our curiosity is paying far too much still to at least let us think we may know who-a-hall he was that did it. All the while...well really, could he have helped it? Just another ripple in the "Ripper's" sensationally evil life.
Not that well written . Different authors for each sufpect some well investigated and researched some not. Disappointed.
Interesting book that takes a look at the time, detective work, theories and possible other suspects of these gruesome crimes. My son got it for a research project for HIS english class and it grew into an ENTIRE FAMILY research project. We all caught "Jack the Ripper" fever!
This book provides a great overall review of the Ripper suspects, however, the authors tend to put their own spin on the guilt or innocense of the suspect and the reviews are much too brief. I tend to agree with the majority of the authors who created this work, but others really should let people make up their own minds-just present the facts without the opinions.
Fairly in-depth discussion of the cases against the legitimate suspects, as well the flaws in certain theories. Good beginner to intermediate guide to the Ripper case.
This was a wonderful book because it lists all the possible suspects and then goes into detail on why or why not they could have been Jack the Ripper. The Whitechapel Society did excellent research. Very worthwhile if you want to read a serious study on the suspects.
This book compiled by Ripperologists from the Whitechapel Society is excellent.
